2FA is essential to web security because it immediately neutralizes the risks associated with compromised passwords. If a password is hacked, guessed, or even phished, that's no longer enough to give an intruder access: without approval at the second factor, a password alone is useless.

MyCointainer platform uses Google Authentication to provide a form of 2FA for its users.

How To Install 2FA on MyCointainer

  1. Login to your MyCointainer account and enter Dashboard.

  2. Go to Settings & Security, and click on Enable under "2-Factor Authentication".

  3. Make sure the "Google Authenticator" app is installed on your device, if not, download it from the official store from one of the links listed. Click Continue.

  4. Make sure to copy the Backup key to restore the authenticator. This code is only shown to you; neither Google nor MyCointainer stores a copy of it.

  5. A 2FA confirmation code has been sent to your email. Copy the received code into the Email code field. Go back to the previous page and click Continue.

  6. On the following page, scan the QR code or manually input the setup key inside the Google Authenticator App. Input 6 digit code from the Google Authenticator app to verify your account.

  7. Once you submit the Authentication code, your 2FA setup will be complete!
